Rules 3 - Suspension Schedule for Penalties This week's edition of Coaches corner covers the suspension schedule for penalties awarded in games under Ice Hockey Australia. This includes local club games, games against visiting teams as well as games at Australian Ice Hockey sanctioned tournaments such as the National Ice Hockey Tournament for your division. If you receive a gross or match penalty by the referee at a game for one of the offences below you will receive the appropriate suspension without needing to face the Tribunal. You still have the right to request a Tribunal Hearing for any of these offences if you disagree with the call made by the referee. For any of the offences listed below that refer to a Tribunal Hearing, the matter must go to a Tribunal for a decision to be made. In this situation you are not allowed to play until the tribunal has been held. If you are suspended you must serve this suspension in the division in which the suspension was awarded. You cannot participate in any Ice Hockey Australia sanctioned game - including games in other divisions or at national tournaments - until the penalty is served. If you are suspended during a National Tournament your suspension is carried over into your corresponding division until you have served the entire suspension. If you receive a suspension in the last game of the year then this suspension will carry over to the following season - in the league in which it was served or the equivalent league if this league doesn't exist. You must be a financial member in order to serve your suspension. For example if you are given a 1 year suspension and do not sign on for hockey the following year then your suspension does not continue until you do become a financial member of a club. If you move to another state or country and you have a suspension, you will not be allowed to play until you have served your suspension in the division you have been awarded the suspension or in an equivalent league if the one you were awarded your suspension does not exist in your new state or country.
